Signed card - (1890-1994) Aged 86 Sheila Mitchell answered an appeal from researcher Jacques Cousteau for survivors of the sinking of the Britannic on 21 November 1916. The Britannic was the sister ship of the Titanic, converted into a hospital ship when war broke out in 1914. On her second outward journey as an auxiliary nurse the ship sank near the island of Kea, from a torpedo according to the British, or a mine according to the German Navy.

The Titanic film script was based on the Mitchell Costeau documentary. Sheila devoted much of the rest of her life to cataloguing gravestones in Central Scotland with her husband, as compulsory Births, Deaths and Marriages were not recorded until 1855, they were historians, she earnt an MBE for her work.
