Signed card - (1879-1964) The first woman to sit as a Member of Parliament (MP) in the British House of Commons. Astor was an interesting and witty American that won over English socialites. She married Englishman Waldorf Astor in 1906 who inherited the title of Viscount and was elevated to the House of Lords, Lady Astor was elected to his seat in Parliament (1919), serving there until her retirement in 1945.

She was a member of the Conservative Party who championed the rights of women and children, renowned for her sharp repartee with Winston Churchill.
