A Autograph Signed Letter by Eleanor Roosevelt (11,10,1884 – 07,11,1962) First Lady of the United States 1933-45. Eleanor Roosevelt, one page, (very slightly neatly trimmed), Glasgow, Scotland (although on her personal printed stationery with her New York address), 8th May 1957, to [Lola] Hahn-Warburg. Roosevelt thanks her correspondent for a lovely cashmere shawl, commenting 'It is a delight and I shall use it with much pleasure but I really feel you were too extravagant.' She continues to remark 'I enjoyed meeting you again and having an opportunity to talk with your volunteer workers, and I am grateful for all your kindness during the afternoon'.

Lola Hahn-Warburg (1901-1989) Sister-in-Law of Kurt Hahn, the German Educator. Lola Hahn-Warburg was instrumental in bringing Jewish orphans to Youth Aliyah villages in the former Palestine. Together with a second T.L.S., Eleanor Roosevelt, one page, 8vo, Brook Street, London, 6th April 1959, to [Lola] Hahn-Warburg, on the printed stationery of Claridge's. Roosevelt thanks her correspondent for having written to her about a television programme and adds that she hopes there will be a chance of meeting each other while she is in London. With a brief holograph postscript. Both letters have two file holes to the left edges, not affecting the text or signatures, and the later letter is very lightly laid down at the extreme top edge.
